Pubs and Planes

Is there any connection between the pubs and and planes? Well...they both start with p, are full of people and usually don't have enough space. But in pubs people feel good and in planes that fly for a long time is exactly the opposite (no matter how good the movies are, although they help).

What really brings them together is that they are both recommended for a better communication and greater success for teams distributed in space and time. The recommended frequency P&P of 1.5 months can scare both the travelers and the budget. Finding alternative solutions is a challenge I took. As a start I am writing here and I intend to write a summary of what I would tell my friends when we go out to pubs. I'm sure a lot of the pub interaction and fun is missed, but it may be an acceptable surrogate.

The impression I'm getting is that you're willing to go out for a beer about as often as you travel by plane >:-)

(Yeah, pot calling the kettle black).

That means I have to prove that you're getting the wrong impression ;)

1+x hours in a plane are more expensive then 1+x hours in a pub BUT...
1. in a plane you can choose what music to listen or what movies to see; in a pub you can not do that;
2. if you get drunk, in a plane nobody throw you out, but in a pub you will be throw out;
3. in a plane everybody is nice with you, in a pub... not always
4. the stewardess never will ask or accept your tip, but an waiter will do that;
5. and the last important thing: in a plane you "enter" in a place and "exit" in another place, but in a pub you enter and exit in same place.

but in your post you spoke about "better communication and greater success for teams". But pubs and planes are not always only for this. Or... you do not know what fun can be?
